MASON BROTHERS COMPANY

Mason Brothers was founded in 1920 by two brothers, Harold W. & Victor Mason. They serviced customers within a 50-mile radius of Wadena, MN.

In 1923, a new warehouse is built & business continues to grow & prosper.

In 1930, Harold Mason hires his nephew, Chuck Harrison. Harold subsequently retires due to health reasons in 1952. Chuck Harrison takes over operation of the warehouse.

In the summer of 1950, Harry Harrison, Chuck’s son, starts working summers at Mason Brothers unloading boxcars of flour & sugar along with making deliveries.

In 1962, Chuck Harrison passed away. Upon his death, his son, Harry Harrison becomes president & CEO of Mason Brothers.

Then...

1968

A fire destroys the entire warehouse. Within 6 months a new facility is up & running in a new location.

1971

Mason Brothers becomes the first business in the community to install a computer system, leading the way to a broader range of services.

1974

Mason Brothers purchases their first tractor trailer rig. Before this, they had been using straight trucks.

1975

A graphics arts department is added.

1977

Mason Brothers takes on an extensive dairy program.

1978

Freezers are built & frozen foods are added.

1980

With continued growth, they find it necessary to add additional space to the warehouse.

1995

Abby’s Bakery (named after Harry Harrison’s granddaughter) was built – offering customers fresh, quality bakery product.

1999

USDA inspected meat packing area is added, where meat is further processed in case-ready packaging.

2000

Harry Harrison retires as president & CEO of Mason Brothers, selling the business to his sons Jeff & Ric.

2003

Now servicing Wisconsin.

2003

Abby’s Bakery expands to keep up with increasing demand.

2003

Mason Brothers proudly introduces an exclusive all-natural, locally raised beef product line with the “Heartland Farms” label.

2003

Due to the closing of Fairway Foods, Hartz & Fleming warehouses, Mason Brothers acquires substantial new business in Minnesota, North Dakota & Wisconsin.

2009

Now servicing Iowa & Michigan.

2010

Celebrating 90 years of continuous operation.

2012

Now servicing South Dakota.

2012

New improved website is launched offering our customers real time information.

2014

Abby’s Bakery expansion & the introduction of Sunnybrook Bread.
New packaging is made available on our Case Ready Meat allowing extended dating & the ability to order in the morning for next-day delivery.
